Our Second Honoree "Josi"

Josi was nominated by her family.

Jhosseline (Josi) was born in Guatemala on March 5, 2003 to a very loving mother and father. Her father died three months later of liver failure. In December of 2007, when Josi was 4yrs old, her impoverished birthmother made a very difficult decision and placed her for adoption. Time was of the essence as Guatemala was closing their doors for international adoption on December 31, 2007. On December 23, I saw her photograph on a photolisting. I showed her pic to my husband and asked if he might pray and maybe consider adopting her. To make a long story short, my husband said yes, and two days later, the day after Christmas, we made the journey to Guatemala to sign the necessary paperwork to adopt her. We did spent a few days with her and fell hard for this sweet girl who had been through so much. I also had the pleasure of spending her fifth, and last, birthday with her.

After a year-long process, the following December, her new birth certificate had come through showing my husband and me as her parents, and we were approximately two weeks away from picking her up. It was going to be a wonderful Christmas! But a few days after that, our precious daughter was brutally murdered along with a loving family.

I can't even express the sadness I feel for the loss of my precious child. There were so many who loved her as much as I did. Her birthmother who selflessly decided to give her up so that she could have a better life; her foster mother, who got to spend her last year with her and loved her like her own daughter; her foster sisters who loved her dearly; and so many more who have been touched and literally changed by this little girl who brought so much joy to many. Also, there is a woman in Guatemala who fell in love with Josi and wanted her so badly but did not have the money to adopt her. She is literally heartbroken. (I did not know about her until after Josi passed.)

This child is God's special child. Her life here was difficult. She had been through so much pain and heartache in her five short years here. She suffered greatly here on earth, and died a horrible death that no one can fathom. There were so many of us who wanted her... She was legally our daughter; even though we knew her the least, we loved her the same. So many in Guatemala are grieving for this precious little one who is now in Jesus' arms feeling no more pain and sadness.

Jane, sister and hero to Sam and Esther

I am proud to present you with the first child to be honored on the Children's Blog of Fame. Please meet Jane. She is only eight years old. She has been caring for her two younger siblings, Sam and Esther. The children live in Uganda. Jane walked many miles to fetch water in order to bathe her younger siblings. She couldn't feed them but the least she could do was care for them and keep them clean. When given crackers, she fed them to her starving brother and sister and finally took one for herself. She is the ultimate big sister and imitator of Christ. Take a look and meet these amazing children.
